Biography

My name is Özge and I am coming from Turkey. I am the one of the founders and vice president of the Turkish Conservators-Restorers Association. Additionally, I have been working as a manuscript conservator at an institution affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Istanbul for the past three years. I studied at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Turkey and finished with honours degree. I worked at excavations and projects during my education and after that I gained experience on various materials.

Internships

My internship joruney started in 2017 at Aphrodisias Excavation. I worked at excavations laboratory, field and construction projects.

Coins, metal tools, ancient vases, murals, and organic objects were the types of materials I worked with the most.

Aphrodisias Excavation

In Aphrodisias, the first excavation I worked on, I did restoration and conservation work on coins, metal objects, sculpture fragments and organic materials.

I usually worked on metal objects, such as coins and artifacts. Mechanical cleaning and consolidation process is done by me.

Pergamon Excavation

I completed my second internship at the Pergamon excavation site, one of the most famous ancient settlement.

I did the documentation, cleaning and consolidation of the in situ wall paintings.

Ephesus Excavation

I worked on mosaics from Roman era. I wrote condition and treatment reports for the mosaics.

Detailed documentation and photographing of the mosaics made by me.

Mechanical cleaning, consolidation, borders, joints, (mortar preparation, keeping) had done on Roman mosaics at Terrace Houses in Ephesus Ancient City.

Zeugma Excavation

I graduated from the university in 2019 and I started Master during that time I worked on coins, metal tools, ancient vases, murals, and organic objects at Zeugma Excavation.

Komana Excavation

I worked on various materials in national and international excavations.

Coins, metal tools, ancient vases, murals, and organic objects were the types of materials I worked with the most.

Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum Building Restoration Project

The restoration of building project was organized by Boğaziçi Construction Company in 2020. Deteriorations and damages are dedected and after that cleaning and consolidation of the walls and decorations, which are the elements of the building were carried.

Türkiye Yazma Eserler Kurumu

In 2021, I started working as a paper conservator at the Turkish Manuscripts Institution affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and furthered my experience by receiving in-service training on paper conservation.
